Love Stories as a genre has always fascinated our dream merchants in Bollywood. However, not all love stories manage to bring a smile on your face. As this week's big release I Hate LUV Storys hits the theatres, Bollywood Hungama's Nikhil Ramsubramaniam picks out some love stories of the year which we love to hate.
Pyaar Impossible
The story of a geek and a beauty could have made for an interesting viewing experience. However, when you have Uday Chopra as the geek and Priyanka Chopra as the beauty there is bound to be zero chemistry. This was indeed one mission impossible that the makers were trying to achieve.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may have undying love for each other in real life. But that doesn't mean that they need to love each other in every other film on-screen too. That too when Abhi is playing the '10 headed monster' Raavan and Ash his captive, depicting a love angle between the duo looks plain ridiculous. This modern day Mani Ratnam's version of Ramayan had the viewers bored and exasperated who spent more time looking at their watches rather than on screen.
Love they say has no language and knows no boundaries and this was probably the message the makers of Kites were trying to convey. However, the expectations came crashing down when this Hrithik Roshan- Barbara Mori starrer opened across cinema halls. Despite subtitles, viewers couldn't really fathom which way this love story of an Indian boy and a Spanish girl was heading. This Kite got cut even before it could take off.
We thought we had seen the last of aliens in Rakesh Roshan's Koi Mil Gaya. However, we were in for a surprise when the promos of Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai proclaimed it as a love story between a boy from Earth and a girl from Venus. While Riteish Deshmukh played the lovable loser (for the umpteenth time), newcomer Jacqueline Fernandez played the good looking alien in search of love. With an average first half and a never-ending second half, this one was anything but a love story that's out of this world.
