The moment you stepped in the B-Town, you've bagged two big films - Vikram Bhatt's 1920 Part 3 and Satish Kaushik's Gang Of Ghosts.
I've been trying in Bollywood for the last one year. I was considering a few offers but I wanted to work with an established director and in times when there are powerful roles being written, why not try to work in an ensemble film like how Huma and Richa did in Gangs of Wasseypur. Vikram Bhatt approached me to play the lead in his third instalment of 1920 and then immediately Satish Kaushik offered me a role in Gang Of Ghosts which is an ensemble film for which I am shooting currently in Surat. I am very happy with the choices I've made so far.
What's your favorite Priyanka Chopra movie? How do you see her growth from what you've known of her?
My favorite Priyanka Chopra movie has to be Fashion. I've seen the movie over and over again. But it was in Barfi that she proved how she could surpass her previous best. Even Saat Khoon Maaf was a brilliant portrayal. It's all because of her hard work that she's moved ahead in life. She was a girl with dreams in her eyes and had nobody backing her in B-town but look where she is today. Anything is possible if you go for it and never back off. -

But why kick start with a horror movie?
Vikram Bhatt has a penchant for female roles. He is known for giving strong roles to his actresses. So when Prachi Desai backed off the role, Vikram called me and gave me the part. It's a very strong role and female centric. It will be a career defining role for me. The actor opposite me is a Kannada superstar Diganth. I want to be associated with good production houses, good directors, etc. I would love to work with Balaji Motion Pictures and Dharma Productions in the near future.
Your favorite movies, your favorite actress and actor from the Hindi Film Industry.
As a kid, I remember watching Pakeezah. I've seen that movie a lot of times. I would love to do that era, that ambience, that larger than life character. I loved and still love DDLJ. I love My Name is Khan. It was a very good movie and SRK's performance was superlative in that. I am a big SRK fan. My favorite actress is Kareena Kapoor and I've adored her in every movie. Madhuri Dixit from Tezaab too leaves a lasting impression and currently I am a fan of Deepika Padukone. And my love for Salman Khan still continues (laughs). -

Welcome to Bollywood Meera Chopra!
Thank you. It was purely my frustration that I had done enough movies down South and now I had to take a plunge in Bollywood. Though it was good that I did brush myself in front of the camera to be well prepared when I do Hindi films but honestly, the language down South was a big hindrance for me and of course, the same repetitive roles that the actresses were given. Now is the time when Bollywood's getting into its best phase of diverse movies and genres. Now is my time.
How did you land up in movies down South?
I wanted to become a news reporter after I came back from my studies in New York. Though I loved being in front of the camera while I was modelling during my college years. I joined NDTV as a trainee and that's when I got an offer from a South producer who cast me in my debut movie. The music was by A.R. Rahman. The film was titled Anbe Aaruyire. It was a big project and I had to give two months to it. I took a leave from NDTV and joined the cast and crew in South. I finished my movie, started my training again and the movie became a huge hit. Offers started pouring in from South and there was no looking back. -

Sexiness, it turns out, is not something Meera Chopra takes too seriously. Acting? You bet! Food? Absolutely. Relationships? Can wait. Sibling rivalry? Don't get her started. Chopra has an innate and magnetic sensuality. That quality is on display when I land up at her Andheri residence for an ongoing photoshoot. She's in her bedroom changing into her satin night gown, and in a jiffy asks me, "Do you think this is a bit too revealing?" I tell her, "Go for it, be confident". Instead of cloistering herself away or lashing out at the press (that's me), she pressed ahead with her business with a kind of unflappable grace, and it is this attitude of hers that's got the actress kick starting her Bollywood career with two back to back movies in less than a month - third instalment of Vikram Bhatt's 1920 and Satish Kaushik & Venus Films Gang of Ghosts. Over some yummy home cooked lunch we discuss her life's struggles, her fondness for that blueberry cheesecake and her go-getter inclination. When it comes to certain aspects of her life, Meera is an open book, but other parts remain an enigma. So I dig deep into this intriguing figure's world to find the answers you all have been curious about. Better lean in. Chopra is about to reveal the secret of her much touted movie addiction, her favorite movies, her sister Priyanka Chopra and more. Introducing Chopra... Meera Chopra.
