Kunal wanted the set to have the right feel and look very colourful. Every single prop on the sets was specially created as those things weren't available anywhere. "All the props, be it the lanterns, the kullad matkis or the walls, we had to make everything look like it would in 1910," adds Kunal.
The makers of Teri Meri Kahaani, created a mammoth set of a village called Sargoda near Lahore, Pakistan in north Mumbai's Madh Island to shoot the portions of the 1910 segment in the film.
Says director Kunal Kohli, "We created a set of a village called Sargoda, which is outside Lahore, in India in 1910 when India was under British rule. It was very difficult to find a village in India that looked exactly the same way as it looked a century ago. Every village has made some progress so we had to recreate a set of India 100 years back which was quite a task but my art director Munish Sappal did a very good job."
Art director Munish Sappal along with his crew of 250 people spent 45 days to create the set of Sargoda village, which cost them approximately Rs.1.5 crores.
Shahid and Priyanka's first love story is set in the backdrop of 1910 Pakistan. Since it is a Muslim Village, they had to create a big dargah on the set.
