Instead of filmstars, Ovais went for the men behind the camera who are the real heroes of a film. Ovais shot pictures of some of the most talented and creative filmmakers of Bollywood with interesting themes. Each of the nine pictures retains some unique trait of each filmmaker.
The interesting part however is that these pictures are not shot for any calendar. They are just for Ovais’s personal collection and are on display in Mumbai.

The photograph intends to show the director-duo Abbas-Mustan as old, classic detectives solving a case. As they make intelligent thrillers, the frame depicts the spirit of their films – beautiful and interesting.
I have tried to retain their own personalities by not asking them to enact the expressions. I feel the overwhelming chemistry of these directors comes across beautifully in the photograph.
He is a man of few words, so his picture speaks for him. Defining and redefining cinema with every film, Farhan is truly an institution in himself. The frame shows Farhan toying with the various genres of filmmaking as he plans his next venture. But I feel, whatever path he takes, it will ultimately lead to a paradigm of innovative and outstanding cinema. An example of a new generation of innovative filmmakers, Farhan has an eye for perfection and detail to the T.
Like his films, Sudhir Mishra is a very simple, realistic and a beautiful person. With no starry airs, this down-to-earth director believes living his life to the fullest. I have tried to capture the same humility and lack of much-justified pride while shooting the legendary director.
You can’t believe this is the brain behind such beautiful and thought-provoking stories when you meet him for the first time. He is like just another guy but with a golden heart! Perhaps that is the reason of his popularity and ever increasing number of fans.
To me, he is an amalgamation of a thinking, artistic, entertaining and incredible storyteller. Madhur almost lives his films, and taking advantage of the moment, I capture him in a fashionable mood, which he is sporting these days.
Rohan is everything but a Bluff Master! By the half rupee and half dollar note, I imply that this man has it in him to make Indian cinema surpass Hollywood in every sense.
Standing in a corner, with a currency note in his hand, Rohan is a quiet director who knows how to make rupees go dollars, truly!
