In its third week, Rohit Shetty's latest film Singham, an over the top action adventure film has still managed to roar itself silly by aggregately collecting, an incredible seventy seven crores at the box-office. With this, it is notably implied that the makers and the distributors are laughing their way to the bank. Singham is a remake of the 2010 Tamil film that had Surya as the protagonist. The film revolves around a hardened cop Bajirao Singham played by Ajay Devgn who maintains peace in his village Shivgad, until a sinister powerful gangster Jaykant Shikre played by well known south actor Prakash Raj gets Singham transferred to wreak havoc in his life. But alas, the sinister gangster is no match for Singham who works around the system in his fight against evil. One of the biggest contributing factors that adds to the films success is the, visual effects and post-production executed by the notorious Pixion Studios. Headed by Naveen Paul, VFX Supervisor, the Mumbai based VFX house has delivered an astounding, 800 VFX shots in a span of forty days with a workforce of over 120 artists. Bollywood Hungama gets the creative people to bring you a behind the scenes visual effects making of Singham.

Visual effects and Special effects
Special effects better known as SFX in the film industry is basically the techniques used on the filming set, to generate certain visuals that would later be cleaned up and augmented using VFX. A visual effect is the digital process where-in the raw footage is enhanced digitally like in the shots visible in the scene above. The SFX in this scene included the car above to be wired to a crane, which was rigged along with pyrotechnics for it to flip over its hood. This SFX live action layer was shot separately and the principal actors in the scene were shot against a chroma background on a different plate. Trackers were marked on the chroma background which helped the compositor to camera match the shot and the flipped car layer was placed with the trackers assistance, this ensured the position of the layers. The crane wires in the SFX layer was cleaned up digitally by masking them using Nuke. Viral Thakkar, VFX CGI head of the film, directed his team and sought out the CGI portions in the film, CGI elements were added to the base of the car in sync with the textures with the live action shot of the flipped car. All these different layers were then merged later on in the composite stage to render the final output.

Other post-production work
With a horde of visual effects employed to amalgamate the special effects which aided in the narrative of the film, other subtle post-production elements were required in to bring the visuals to fore. Pavan Rajesh the associate VFX Supervisor of the film says, "There were sequences that we altered from day to night, floor replacements were carried out along with CG and Sky replacements made for many of the sequences in the film." On completing the mammoth task in such a short span of time with the kind of vibe that the action film exudes, Nelson Dsouza, VFX producer of the film says, "With over forty minutes of VFX work, there were a lot of sequences that demanded special attention, besides the post-production and VFX work mentioned we have also created the Singham logo, theatrical promos, opening title packaging for television as well that is visible in the film. Speaking on the challenging aspect of the film Naveen says, "Apart from the time aspect posing as a challenge, the action sequences required a lot of effort to be delivered seamlessly. Pixion has supported Rohit in delivering it efficiently to the audience."
