Manoj Bajpayee in Gangs of Wasseypur
There is no denying that Manoj Bajpayee is one of the finest actors we have in Bollywood. However, somewhere apart from that iconic character of Bhiku Mhatre in Satya, the actor never really got his due despite impressive acts in films like Raajneeti, Aks and Shool. However all that has changed now post his phenomenal act as Sardar Khan in Gangs of Wasseypur. To state that Bajpayee has got into the skin of the character would be an understatement. He is simply brilliant be it in his funny scenes or in the high voltage dramatic ones. This one is a front runner for the all the top awards. In Bajpayee's own words, "Is Baar Keh Ke Loonga"
Besides the above mentioned names featured in this list, there were some more impressive performances like Randeep Hooda (Jannat 2), Imran Khan (Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu), Pitobash (Shanghai), and Jaideep Ahlawat, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Nawaz (Gangs of Wasseypur)

Arjun Kapoor in Ishaqzaade
Ever since Arjun Kapoor decided to become an actor, there has been tremendous buzz and hype surrounding his debut film Ishaqzaade. After watching the film, it can be safely said that Arjun is worth all the hype. In his very first film Arjun played a character which is a far cry from how he is in real life and that in itself is a commendable feat. As the volatile and at times eccentric Parma, Arjun surely made everyone sit up and take notice of his talent. Given the right choice of roles, Arjun has it all to make it big in B-town. -

Nawazuddin Siddique and Parambrata Chatterjee in Kahaani
Kahaani was always projected as a Vidya Balan film but there were 2 male performances that stood out in this gripping thriller. One was that of Parambrata Chatterjee who played Inspector Satyuki aka Rana while the other was that of Nawazuddin Siddique who played Officer Khan. What's interesting is the fact that their characters were poles apart. While Param was soft-spoken and yet displayed an inherent toughness, Nawaz was volatile and acidic. While we would certainly like to see more of the Bong actor in Hindi films, Nawaz is already making a mark with films like Gangs of Wasseypur etc. -

Emraan Hashmi in Shanghai
Dibakar Banerjee's Shanghai may not have created ripples at the Box Office but it was surely filled with superlative performances and leading the pack was none other than Emraan Hashmi. As the pot-bellied Jogi Parmar, Emraan hit all the right notes delivering a performance that got him a lot of critical appreciation. The actor worked hard to get the look and body language of a small town hustler right and the results were phenomenal to say the least. Can't help but say 'Emraan Hashmi Ki Jai!' -

Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani in Ferrari Ki Sawaari
This duo impressed us in 3 Idiots and now they are back with yet another heart-warming performance in the year's sweetest film Ferrari Ki Sawaari. In his first ever lead role, Sharman Joshi delivered a super performance as the shy and timid yet lovable Rustom. His scenes with child-star Ritwik and with Boman were simply outstanding. As for Boman, well Ferrari Ki Sawaari would go down as one of his finest performances of his career. As the grumpy old Parsi-Behram Deboo, who later has a change of heart, Boman nailed it completely. It's amazing how Boman always reserves his best for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's films be it in the Munnabhai series, 3 Idiots or now Ferrari Ki Sawaari. This one is surely a front runner for all the Best Supporting Actor awards next year.
