It all began on January 7, 2009, when Deepika Padukone walked the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of her latest release Chandni Chowk To China. From here till London, her outfits have been quite the talking point. The elegant see-through cream sari with embroidery and embellishments which she wore in LA accentuated Deepika's slender figure. But the green velvet and sheer fabric sleeveless blouse with silver gota work was a shocking mismatch and distracted attention from both the sari and her lovely face.
In New York, Deepika opted for a dazzling silver and teal lehenga with a halter top choli which is an interesting adaptation. But, overall the outfit is too over the top for an international red carpet event. And the colours do very little for Ms Padukone.
Deepika looked best at the Toronto premiere of Chandni Chowk to China opting for a black and gold ethnic outfit with a crushed dupatta. The dangling earrings (we forgive her for repeating her earrings after New York), matching kundan necklace and neatly tied back hair complemented her Indian features and brought out her youth.
In a soft pink diamante encrusted gown, accessorized with a fur-like shrug, Deepika's outfit looks like a flamingo collided into a fox. A complete shocker! Compared to her red carpet ensembles, she might have been better off pulling something a Chinese collared fitted dress from Sakhi or Meow Meow's wardrobe.
